We buy our wines from Guillaume Aubert
Guillaume has been working in the wine industry in France and th UK since 1996, first passing a winemaking degree in the Loire Valley then working for an independent importer in London for several years. In May 2009, Guillaume Aubert (Maison Aubert) and Giuseppe Mascoli (Terroirs) merged to form Aubert & Mascoli.
Valli Unite, Colli Tortonesi, Il Brut & The Beast 2005
An hour east of glamorous Barolo lies the home of the Cortese grape, Costa Vescovato. Valli Unite (United Valley) are a small self-sufficient community of 30 people who have their own cattle, cultures, carpentery etc. People from Milan drive there every Sunday to enjoy the fabulous 8 courses lunch served in their restaurant. We happened to be there when they killed a pig and the feast was unbelievable. Octavio, the head of the community, makes the wines. Valli Unite was one of the first italian winery to be certified organic.
Brut & beast is a blend of Cortese and Favorita, the equivalent of a Petillant Naturel. Cortese being the grape found in Gavi, Favorita is usually found in local sweet wines. It is slightly fizzy and off-dry. organic
Isle Saint Pierre, Bouches du Rhone, Assemblage Rouge, Blanc & Rose 2009
We started working with Patrick a couple of years ago and we think we found a gem. The domaine is a small island on the Rhône river, south of Arles. It therefore has its own ecosystem and specificities. Sheep and vines are the onlythings to be seen on the landscape here.
All three wines are blends and have in common an amazing freshness and minerality.
Merlot, Cab Franc and 20% of Petit Verdot make the Red. Chardonnay, Sauvignon and a dash of Muscat, the white. The Rosé is made of Grenache, Cinsault, Merlot and Cab Franc.
Sustainable Agriculture.
Chateau de la Selve, Maguelonne, Coteaux de l’Ardeche Rose, 2008
The most accomplished Rose we came across in a long time. Made of Grenache, Cinsault, Viognier and Syrah, it has everything a good Rose should have: a delicious colour, minerality and balance. It comes from 50% from Press wine and 50% from pellicular maceration. Benoit only started to make wine in 2002 and we are very impressed.

Podere Volpaia, Terre de’Pari, Chianti Riserva, 2001
This numbered selection (6,000 bottles made in 2001) offers a traditional organic Chianti made from Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Malvasia Nera. Quite subtle and not full, with a great length. This small producer uses only old vines and indigenous grapes and has manage to survive all the internationalising trend of growing Cabernet, Merlot, Shiraz & Co.
Organic
And don't forget we also sell our wines to take away !!
